We are Ambassadors for Christ.

Updated: Jul 21, 2023

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:18–20)

Jesus’ first calling of His disciples were seen as contrary to human expectations. For he did not first choose the learned or men and women of great wisdom but ordinary fishermen. It tells us that “the foolishness of God is wiser than men” (1 Cor. 1:25) and that God can use anybody if he or she will simply make themselves available.

Jesus calls us not because of what we are and what we have, but simply on what He can make of us. Observe what He said in Mark1:17: “Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” In other words, Jesus can use any one of us to be a vessel of His Good News in drawing people into God’s Kingdom just like the first disciples, Peter, Andrew, James and John.

In fact, God has given us “the ministry of reconciliation” and “the message of reconciliation.” (2 Cor. 5:18–19)

By calling individuals to come and follow Him, Jesus addressed the will of every believers – to be a faithful disciple of Christ in order to be an ambassador for Christ. “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,” (2 Corinthians 5:20a)

Every Christian is an “ambassador for Christ” and being an ambassador represents his ruler and his people. Though not every believer is called to full-time Christian service, but every believer is called to full-time Christian living which is a representation of Christ image.

No matter where we are, we represent Jesus Christ and his church. People form their opinions of God and the Gospel from what they see and hear in us, hence, we need to be vigilant not to bear a wrong image of our Christian faith.

As we commit this year to His leading, we also commit our to His equipping and spurring us on “To leading a life of witness for Christ confidently”.

In this, we journey and strive together to know and experience God and share His transforming work in our lives.

Remember Our Catchphrase for the year?

We are all Saints with a Story”

We are saints with a story as we strive to “let our light shine before men, that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

As disciples of Jesus, we are commissioned to faithfully witness to the Good news of the Gospel.

As a Christian, our desire is to know God more deeply.

As a witness for Christ, our desire is to make him known more fully.

Most blessed is to share our experiences of God in our lives, and in turn, affirm, encourage and rejoice with others on the goodness of God.

Our goal for the year:

Þ To Share a personal testimony and Go

spel with at least one person.

Þ To Build a relationship with one person and a new comer to the church throughout the year.

Þ To Grow in one aspect of character so as to share about God’s transformation in your life.

In this, we strive to tell our story of God to encourage one another in our faith journey, to draw others to the Saviour, and most of all, to glorify our Father in heaven.

In this, we are truly an ambassador for Christ.

In Christ love,

Rev Daniel Lee
